Brief description: As Senior Social Development Adviser (SSDA), you will play a critical role in delivery of the Operational Plan. You will be lead the strategic development and delivery of social development agendas within DFID India’s Operational Plan and provide oversight of key programmes and high quality technical support to a wider range of programmes, with particular attention to the newer areas of DFID’s programmes, such as the private sector.
DFID India manages UK’s development programme worth £280 million per year, delivered in partnership with government, international organisations, private sector and civil society.
There are 90 staff based in our New Delhi office (co-location with the British High Commission is planned for 2012) with three offices in focus states.
DFID is working with partners to outline our priority areas of engagement over the medium and longer term. Strong socio-political analytical capacity and the translation of high quality analysis into programmes for greater impact is central to this process, including a stronger focus on inclusion and women and girls. The Senior Social Development Adviser will lead this.
