The Ministry of Micro,Small and Medium enterprises (MSME) has launched an E-Commerce portal which will serve as a trading platform for the entire sector.The portal has been developed by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and can be accessed at msmeshopping.com. NSIC was started by the government in 1955 and is part of the Ministry of MSME, it comes up with services and products that can help MSME’s compete with their global counterparts.
By paying a one time registration fee of Rs 5,000 per year any small manufacturer can begin selling his products online without having to invest money in the online infrastructure. There is no limit to the value or quantity of products that can be listed online by a company and the transaction charges have also been waived off.
The portal is expected to serve as a platform for MSME‘s in India and help them go global.Currently the website has more than 110 suppliers and 1700 products listed. The Ministry has set an ambitious goal of adding at-least 5000 suppliers every year. The website was launched by the Union Minister Kalraj Mishra in the first week of August 2014.
