India’s first eco-friendly rechargeable study lamp, BPL StudyLiteTM has won the coveted 2010 international red dot award for product design from Design Zentrum, Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany.
BPL StudyLiteTM was chosen from 4,252 entries across a field of around 1,635 companies from 57 countries across the world. BPL StudyLiteTM is the only Indian product to win this coveted award for 2010. The awards will be presented in Essen, Germany on July 5, 2010. The red dot award is regarded as one of the most prestigious international product design awards. Each year an international jury of around 28 judges reviews and evaluates the entries using criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, durability, symbolic and emotional content and ecological sounds.
On being awarded the “red dot – Product Design Award 2010” Mr. Ajit G Nambiar Chairman and Managing Director of BPL Limited said, “The BPL StudyLiteTM was designed to address the most common and widespread problem faced by millions across India and other developing countries on account of power outages which interrupts their lives.
